about

On the verge of releasing my most personal album yet, I began to look at the beginning. Look at my work from which all of this sprouted from. And, I realize just how far I've grown from almost a decade years ago when I started to make beats. It began as something I'd just do on Garage Band. Then, I started taking a class at Mass College of Art & Design called "Beat Research, that was all about electronic music and hip-hop. Making beats seriously, I was hook immediately.

Fast forward to now, I've released three full-length albums with a fourth on the way, and I've never taken the time to look back at the music that I felt (at the time) was DOPE. Looking back now, I'm not too sure. But, that's why I decided to collect some of my favorites from the first two years of making beats before I ever got the itch to start rhyming too.

This is a beat tape all about the beginning, the learning, the embarrassment, the failure, and the evolution from all that. These are what I'd like to call "Baby Pictures".

about

Lewis M. Boston, Massachusetts

Lewis M. is a boston-based (and Providence born) poet, beatmaker, and MC. He has performed at the Apollo Theater in NYC, The Smithsonian, among many other venues. His beats retain a refreshingly simplified approach to hip-hop production that harkens back to the boom-bap of the 90's while remaining fresh and new.
